REPORT: Cowboys Have Had ‘Internal Discussions’ About Trading Micah Parsons

The Dallas Cowboys have publicly expressed their desire to retain superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons but internally, the discussions is completely different.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys have had “internal discussions” about trading Parsons instead of giving him a lucrative contract extension.

Parsons is currently set to make $24 million on his fifth-year option in 2025, although the vast majority of superstars who receive that fifth-year on their rookie year wind up signing a long-term deal before it takes effect. Parsons is set to hit unrestricted free agency in 2026.

For the Cowboys, it makes sense to extend Parsons and lower their $24 million cap hit but there seems to be some doubt whether that is feasible. It’s going to be an interesting offseason in Dallas.
