The New Orleans Saints are finalizing a deal to hire Kellen Moore as their next head coach, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Moore, who was the offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, will take over a Saints team that is struggling offensively the past few seasons.
Moore has been considered one of the rising coaches in the NFL. After a four-year tenure with the Dallas Cowboys as their offensive coordinator and a one year stint with the Chargers, Moore spent last season with the Eagles’ offense. In the NFC Championship Game, the Eagles scored 55 points, the most by a team in any championship game. They beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX by a score of 40-22.
As for the Saints, they fired Dennis Allen after a Week 9 loss to the Carolina Panthers, their seventh straight loss at the ime. Special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi finished the year as interim head coach. The Saints finished 5-12.
