This a potential big blow to the New York Jets.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Jets starting guard Alijah Vera-Tucker suffered a significant arm injury and his season is in jeopardy. Vera-Tucker is receiving a second medical opinion on the injury but ultimately may need surgery.
Vera-Tucker, 26, was a first-round draft selection in 2021 and is entering the final year of his contract.
The Jets are counting on the 308-pound Vera-Tucker, who recently was voted as a team captain, to help anchor their offensive line and pave the way for their run-oriented attack this season.
