It’s an end of an error in San Francisco.

After being a third round pick of the 49ers in 2023, the team has announced that they are waiving kicker Jake Moody. The decision comes after Moody missed two field goals in Sunday’s 17-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Moody went 1-for-3 overall against the Seahawks. He missed a 27-yard attempt late in the second quarter and had a 36-yard attempt blocked in the third quarter.

The third attempt saw Moody connect from 32 yards to tie the score at 10 early in the fourth quarter. He also made both of his extra-point attempts.

Moody was a third-round pick by the 49ers in the 2023 draft. He went 21-of-25 as a rookie, then made all three extra points and two field goals in the Super Bowl 58 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

San Francisco will need to bring in a new kicker right away, as its practice schedule for Week 2 begins on Wednesday. The 49ers will take on the New Orleans Saints at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday.
