The Philadelphia Eagles will be without one of their star defensive players for a while.
On Wednesday, the team announced that they were placing starting edge rusher Nolan Smith Jr. on injured reserve after he suffered a triceps injury in last Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Smith’s season is not over and he could return for the Monday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers on November 10th. Smith had triceps surgery a week after the Super Bowl but unfortunately aggravated the injury last week. The plan now is to let him rest, then return after the team’s Nov. 2 bye, ESPN reports.
Smith, 24, was selected 30th overall by Philadelphia in the 2023 draft out of Georgia. He came into his own last season, posting 6.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hits and 8 tackles for loss.
The Eagles (3-0) visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-0) this Sunday in a matchup of undefeated teams.
