Rams Fire Special Teams Coach Chase Blackburn

Despite having one of the best records in the NFL, the Los Angeles Rams special teams has been a struggle in 2025 and with two games left in the regular season, Sean McVay is making a significant change.

The Rams have fired pecial-teams coordinator Chase Blackburn, Adam Schefter reports.

The 42-year-old Blackburn played 10 seasons in the NFL, winning two Super Bowls with the New York Giants. His coaching career began in 2016, with the Panthers. He was hired by the Rams in 2023.

The Rams have lost multiple games this year because of special teams gaffes, the latest coming on Thursday night when they gave up 58-yard touchdown return to Seahawks’ Rashid Shaheed. The return sparked a 16-point comeback.

This is the first in-season coaching change Sean McVay has made since becoming the Rams head coach in 2017.
