As it turns out, Saquon Barkley won’t be holding out.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Barkley and the Giants have agreed to terms on a revised franchise tag that will be a one-year deal worth up to $11 million. A slight bump up from the $10.1 million Barkley was scheduled to earn:
Barkley’s deal now includes $2 million of the $10.1 million up front as a signing bonus and another $900,000 he can earn with incentives. The incentives include 1,350 rushing yards, 65 receptions and 11 total touchdowns. In addition, the Giants must make the playoffs for Barkley to earn the $900,000.
The revised deal does not include a clause where the Giants can’t franchise tag Barkley again, which means if Barkley has another good year, the Giants could theoretically franchise tag him again next year.
Saquon Barkley reported to Giants training camp and will not hold out.
