Jamal Adams Stayed Home After Seahawks Made Him A Healthy Scratch For MNF Game vs Eagles

Jamal Adams was not on the sideline during the Seattle Seahawks Monday Night Football win over the Philadelphia Eagles and now we know why.

During his Tuesday appearance on KIRO-AM in Seattle, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll spoke about the decision to make Adams a healthy scratch for “Monday Night Football.” Carroll indicated that he was not certain where Adams was but believes the veteran stayed home after being made inactive.

“I think he was home,” Carroll said, via Gregg Bell of The News Tribune. “It was hard on him. We talked about it, and how he was going to deal with it. And he didn’t need to be there.”

No one spotted Adams at Lumen Field prior to Seattle’s win, so it is unclear if he stayed home or left the stadium after being told he would not be active. Inactives are announced 90 minutes before kickoff.

Julian Love played in replace of Adams alongside Quandre Diggs. Love played every snap and intercepted two Jalen Hurts passes in the fourth quarter, including the one to seal a 20-17 win for Seattle.

As for Adams, he missed the entire 2022 season because of a torn quadriceps. He has not been the same player since and has dealt with knee issues.

The Seahawks acquired Adams from the New York Jets in exchange for a first-round and third-round pick in 2021, and a 2022 first-round pick. They proceeded to sign Adams to a $70 million extension the following season. Given how the team played without him on Monday, it is possible Adams has played his last snap with the Seahawks.

The Seahawks (7-7) will travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans in Week 16.
