BREAKING: Legendary Backup QB Nick Foles Announces Retirement

After arguably the most prolific run by a career backup QB, Nick Foles is calling it quits after 11 years in the NFL.

Foles was drafted by the Eagles in 2012 and floated around the league until returning to Philly in 2017 where he took over for an injured Carson Wentz and a first place Philadelphia Eagles team and not only lead them to the Super Bowl, but the franchise’s first Lombardi Trophy beating the Goliath that was Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

En route to the MVP, Foles notably called for the famed “Philly Special’ play and executed it to perfection in a score that proved crucial in the win, even having a statue that now sits outside Lincoln Financial Field erected in memory of the moment.

The 35-year-old announced the news Thursday morning on Twitter.

Foles will return to Philly to sign a one-day contract and retire an Eagle.
