The Denver Broncos beat up on the Carolina Panthers, 28-14. The 14-point margin of victory for Denver could have been much wider had the Broncos not turned the ball over late in the game.
When the clocks hit triple zero, Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn could be seen confronting Broncos head coach Sean Payton near mid-field, where postgame hand-shakes occur.
Horn didn’t like that Payton was “trying to run up the score.”
Payton addressed the altercation during his post game press conference.
“I coached his father (Former New Orleans Saints receiver Joe Horn),” Payton said of Horn. “So I was yelling back at him. I don’t know what the exchange was but his father I enjoyed coaching. He was frustrated—I think he was yelling at one of our other players. I like him, he’s a good player.”
Jaycee’s father, Joe Horn, was a wide receiver for the Saints from 2000-2006. Payton coached the elder Horn in the coach’s first season in New Orleans.
The Panthers allowed 400 total yards to the Broncos in the 28-14 defeat. They’ve also given up 271 points this season, tied for the fourth-most through eight games in the Super Bowl era.
