Browns 3rd-String QB Cody Kessler Goes Down With Injury, WR Terrelle Pryor Moves To Quarterback

If you thought the Patriots QB situation was unlucky through the first four weeks of the season prior to Tom Brady making his return today, may we remind ourselves of the Browns’.

Cleveland, who lost starter Robert Griffin in the first game of the season, then lost Josh McCown in the next game, and now has lost Cody Kessler. The 3rd-string rookie out of USC has gone down with a chest & rib injury Sunday against ironically, the Patriots.

We’re not sure there’s a more ‘Browns’ way to get injured than having your QB get demolished by a defender as he throws a football backwards out of your own end zone for a safety.

The Browns do have the recently signed perennial backup Charlie Whitehurst on the sideline, and are rotating him under center along with WR Terrelle Pryor, who’s seen some time at QB this season. The rookie did of course play quarterback during his tenure at Ohio State.

The Browns Twitter feed today does a nice job of summing up the shit-show that is the Browns Week 5 game, 2016 season, and franchise in general.

The Browns are the first team since the 2002 Eagles to have five different players attempt a pass in their first five games.
