Osweiler was the Broncos quarterback in waiting with Peyton Manning’s tenure in Denver coming to a close in 2015, until the QB shocked everyone, signing with the Houston Texans after the Broncos didn’t get a deal done in time. Today, GM John Elway looks like a very smart man.
Instead of having signed Osweiler who has proven himself to be a mediocre QB at best, to a contract eclipsing $72 million, Elway and the Broncos will now pay a relatively mere $775 to have the same player a year later.
