At 2-9, the New York Giants are already eliminated from playoff contention and are in the midst of having their worst season in the franchise’s rich history.

Giants fans have been frustrated all season, but the anger reached another level on Tuesday when it was announced that the team’s long-time starting quarterback, Eli Manning was being benched in favor for Geno Smith.

The frustration and anger has led fans to rent out this space on a Billboard near MetLife Stadium and the shame the organization for their losing and treatment of Eli Manning:

The electronic billboards that read “Big Blue Shame on You” in a font that mimics the Giants logo were sponsored by a group of anonymous Giants fans, according to the New York Post. The exact location of the billboard is on the western spur of the New Jersey Turnpike in Kearny, on I-80 in Elmwood Park and on Route 46 in Totowa.

John Mara said of the decision to bench Eli:

“I expected there to be an emotional reaction from fans, I would say it’s been a little in excess of what I expected. Given what he has meant to our franchise and to so many people for so long, it’s understandable.’’

Manning declined the Giants’ offer to start the five remaining games and continue his streak of 210 consecutive regular-season starts, giving way to Smith and rookie Davis Webb to show what they can offer this 2-9 team.
