Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton showed his support for a city that is grieving by wearing black and gold warm up cleats with “Hatred Can’t Weaken A City of Steel” during warmups prior to tonight’s Thursday Night Football game against the Steelers.
Cam was honoring the memory of the 11 dead and multiple others wounded in an Oct. 28 massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue.

Pittsburgh is also the hometown of Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper, who was a minority of the Steelers before he purchased the Panthers earlier this year.
While the site of the shooting wasn’t Tepper’s primary synagogue, he lived in the neighborhood near it while in graduate school at Carnegie Mellon University.
