REPORT: NCAA Suspended Chase Young For Borrowing Money From A Friend To Pay GF’s Flight To Rose Bowl

The NCAA is ridiculous.

On Friday, it was announced that Ohio State defensive end Chase Young was suspended from team’s game vs Maryland because he violated the NCAA rules.

Young is suspended indefinitely due to a possible NCAA violation after it was reported Young took money from a family friend prior to the Rose Bowl last year.

Bruce Feldman of TheAthletic.com reports that the loan came in December 2018 from a family friend, so that Young could fly his girlfriend to California for the Rose Bowl.

Young repaid the money in April. Feldman also reports, citing an unnamed “person,” that the family friend who loaned the money to Young isn’t an agent or a booster.

As noted by Feldman, NCAA regulations require that the loan come from someone with whom the player or his family had a relationship before his recruitment began.

Young’s representatives claim that the money did not come from an NFL agent.

Either way, this is just flat out ridiculous considering Young paid the money back and in now way received improper benefits.
