Oxford HS Football Star Shot & Killed Trying To Disarm Gunman During School Shooting

Tate Myre was known for being a football star at Oxford High School with a bright future on and off the field, but now he’ll forever be known for something bigger.

The 16-year-old running back was tragically shot and killed this week as part of the Oxford school shooting, and did so making the ultimate sacrifice trying to save others.

According to classmates, Myre was attempting to “disarm the shooter” when he was shot at close range. He died on his way to the hospital in a patrol car, and is being described as a “hero”.

Tens of thousands of people in the few days since the tragedy in Michigan have signed a petition to rename the local football stadium in honor of the junior.

Tate was killed along with Madisyn Baldwin, 17, and Hanna St. Julian, age 14.

Just tragic.
