The Denver Broncos basically benched Melvin Gordon during their Week 6 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football as the running back had just three carries.
After the game, Gordon voiced in frustration on social media but liking various tweets that suggested the team trade him.
Gordon, who was suppose to take over as the lead back after the season-ending injury Javonte Williams suffered earlier in the season but instead the team opted to give the bulk of the carries (15 carries for 66 yards) to Latavius Murray, who was signed off the New Orleans Saints practice squad a few weeks ago.
He was asked about the benching after the game to NFL Network’s Bridget Condon and said “It was a close game. I felt like I could’ve helped make a difference, but apparently not.”
The Broncos fell to 2-4 on the season following a 19-16 loss.
