NFL Insider Floats Possibility Of Tom Brady Finishing His Career With 49ers

When Tom Brady un-retired and came back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he expected the team to be at a much different place than where they are now: 3-5 and in third place in the NFC South.

But despite that, Brady has insisted that he’s not considering retirement and that he will continue playing football beyond this season. But if things continue to go south in Tampa, one NFL Insider believes he could be looking for a new team in 2023.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer discussed a scenario with 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Zo and Betrand” where the 45-year-old could go back to his home in the Bay Area and finish his career with the San Francisco 49ers.

“This would check a lot of boxes,” Breer said. “Being able to finish in San Francisco, great offensive coach in Kyle Shanahan, great talent around him. Throwing to Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk…You’ve got Christian McCaffrey behind you. There are a lot of fun possibilities out there with Tom.”

These aren’t the first time we’ve heard rumblings of Brady going to the 49ers. Back in 2020, when he left the New England Patriots, many believed that he would land with San Fran.

Meanwhile for the 49ers, they are currently starting Jimmy Garoppolo after Trey Lance suffered a season-ending injury. If they come up short again with a roster built to win now, would they keep Trey Lance on the bench for one more season and sign Tom Brady?

Never say never!
