San Francisco 49ers Actively Trying To Trade QB Trey Lance

The Trey Lance situation may go down as one of the worst trade up/draft pick combinations in NFL history/

Back in 2021, the 49ers shipped three draft picks to the Miami Dolphins in order to trade up in order to take the potential-ridden young gun out of South Dakota State.

Lance came on late as a potential top QB pick, and his lack of experience as a starter in both high school and college seemed to not warn off John Lynch an the Niners front office.

During his rookie year, Lance unfortunately suffered a severe ankle injury that put an end to his rookie season after just throwing 102 passes, and despite making a comeback Lance can’t seem to win not only the starting job in camp, but the backup.

The team announced Sam Darnold as their backup QB Wednesday, and have officially begun exploring trade options for Lance.

What a screw-up of massive proportions that Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch reached on a QB specially because he fit their unique offense, and then two years later are trying to trade that QB because he simply cannot pickup that same offense.
