REPORT: Dolphins Could Make Chase Claypool Play Tight End Following Trade

Chase Claypool is getting a fresh start with the Miami Dolphins and could also be getting a fresh start at a new position.

CBS Sports analyst Jonathan Jones said he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Dolphins head coach mike McDaniel tries to utilize the wide receiver at tight end.

A day after getting their first win of the season, the Chicago Bears traded Claypool and a 2024 seventh-round pick to Miami for a sixth round pick in the 2024 Draft.

The Chase Claypool experience was a disaster for the Bears after they acquired him from the Pittsburgh Steelers a year ago for the No. 32 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Claypool secured just 18 of 43 targets for 191 yards and a touchdown in 10 games with the Bears. The 25-year-old was a healthy scratch in their last two games after giving a questionable effort on some plays in September.

PerĀ NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Claypool isn’t expected to make his Dolphins debut against the New York Giants on Sunday but whenever he does, it might be a new position.
