Mac Jones is playing for his job on Sunday.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Patriots quarterback will be “on a short leash” during Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Rapoport adds its to be determined whether the Pats will turn to Bailey Zappe, Will Grier or rookie Malik Communigham if they pull the plug on JOnes.
The Patriots signed Cunningham to their active roster and Rapport reports that “there’s a package in for the speedster, if the team chooses to use it.”
The Patriots also split reps this week, Rapoport says, with Zappe and Grier getting their fair share of reps.
Jones has clearly regressed since his promising rookie season and the Pats struggle is showing nightly as the offense is 26th in the league in yards (287.4) and is last in points per game (11).
