We Officially Have Our First Look At The New NFL Kickoff Rules Being Used In A Game

Well, this may take some time to get used to…

The NFL is officially back with the annual Hall of Fame game taking place in Canton, Ohio, and it kicked off (pun intended) in a way we’ve never seen before at the professional level.

In effort to produce more kick returns as opposed to touchbacks while simultaneously reducing the number of injuries, the NFL has adopted a new method of kickoffs which places the kicking team, minus the kicker, at the opposing 40-yard line instead of their own half of the field.

This eliminates the massive amount of speed players can generate running downfield at the returner, therefore reducing the impact of any given collision.
