The Cleveland Browns Have Officially Changed Their Stadium Name

After a decade of being called ‘First Energy Field’, the home of the Cleveland Browns will have a new name starting this season.

On Tuesday, the organization officially announced the new name of their stadium heading in the 2024 season. In a statement, the team confirmed that the stadium will be known as Huntington Bank Field.

Huntington Bank executive Steve Steinour said in his statement that the company was thrilled to have a naming rights deal with the iconic team and called it a pivotal moment in his company’s national brand recognition.

“The Cleveland Browns are iconic in American sports and a globally recognized brand,” said Steve Steinour, Huntington Bank chairman, president and CEO. “Huntington Bank is thrilled to create this partnership and make this investment in the Cleveland Browns and Northeast Ohio. This is also a pivotal moment for us as it gives us a high-profile platform to elevate our brand nationally.

“Whether in the existing stadium or a new one, the Browns’ commitment to Northeast Ohio will continue to spur significant economic growth and development for years to come, and we are excited to be a part of that future.”

The stadium was known as FirstEnergy Stadium from 2013 to 2023 but following a scandal in 2020 that tarnished the reputation of FirstEnergy in the state of Ohio, the Cleveland city council pressured the company to drop its naming rights to the stadium and the decision was agreed upon between the company and the Browns to terminate the contract.

The Cleveland Browns will open the 2024 season at home against the Dallas Cowboys at Huntington Bank Field at 4:25 p.m. ET.
