Toronto Argonauts quarterback Chad Kelly suffered a horrible right tibia injury during the team’s East Division final win over the Montreal Alouetts on Saturday.
A clip going viral from the game shows Kelly trying to hold his half-snapped leg together as he falls to the ground.
Kelly suffered the injury while rushing for a 9-yard gain late in the third quarter. After being tackled, Kelly emerged from the pile hobbling before immediately falling to the ground while clutching his lower right leg.
He was tended to on the field for several minutes before being stretchered off and taken to Montreal General Hospital.
His backup, Nick Arbuckle, went 5-for-8 for 73 yards.
Arbuckle appears to be the man going forward who will be a starter in the Grey Cup game next Sunday in Vancouver.
