Aaron Rodgers made his first visit as a free agent on Friday, visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers facility on Friday, but it was no tan indication that a deal is imminent, at all.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac first reported that Rodgers was at the Steelers’ training facility but cautioned that “a commitment from Rodgers may not come today.” Dulac added to his report that Roders met with head coach Mike Tomlin, general manager Omar Khan and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
Following the visit, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the 41-year-old was meeting with the Steelers and that an agreement was not close. Schefter added that the meeting lasted “about six hours.”
Rodgers reportedly doesn’t have any other visits scheduled and there’s no timetable on when a discussion will be made. The other team interested in Rodgers, the New York Giants, are also in wait and see mode with Rodgers, as he contemplates his future.
