President Trump Calls NFL’s New Kickoff Rule “Sissy Football”, Says It’s Bad For America

President Trump is never afraid to stir up the waters when it comes to any topic, especially NFL football.

Trump has always had a contentious relationship with the league, which began when he unsuccessfully tried to buy into the league in the 1980s after owning a team in the rival USFL, and decades later, as president, he publicly clashed with the NFL over player protests during the national anthem. While Trump has at times praised the sport’s popularity, his criticisms of the league’s leadership and players have made his connection with the NFL one marked more by conflict than collaboration.

In his most recent jab at the NFL, Trump took to Truth Social to denounce the league’s new widely successful kickoff rules, which while not as aesthetically pleasing, have reduced the number of concussions on said plays and have dramatically increased the number of returns and percentage of those returns taken back for touchdowns.
