Chiefs Are Releasing OT Jawaan Taylor

Jawaan Taylor’s time in Kansas City is over.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chiefs are releasing Jawaan Taylor ahead of the start of the new league year on March 11th. The door remains open that a team could trade for Taylor before his release becomes official, but his contract makes that unlikely.

Taylor was set to make $20 million in salary and bonuses while carrying a $27.4 million cap hit. The Chiefs will clear $20 million in cap space with the move.

Taylor started 12 games before going on injured reserve with an elbow injury in December. He started 45 games in three seasons with the Chiefs and started 66 games for Jacksonville before moving to Kansas City.
