Former Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim was reportedly a business associate of alleged scammer Mohamed Coulibaly, who was found dead in a pool in Township, NJ last week.
The 24-year-old Coulibaly was accused of scamming various stars including multiple NFL athletes out of more than $1 million.
Linebacker Nakobe Dean of the Las Vegas Raiders, defensive lineman Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles, and soccer player Mark McKenzie were among the others named who allegedly invested with Coulibaly.
According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Keim and Coulibaly were business partners in a company named Motion Ventures, and states that the association with Keim was what made many NFL players comfortable working with Coulibaly.
“Steve plays a critical role in guiding expansion strategy, evaluating new opportunities, and supporting leadership across divisions by navigating high-stakes decision-making, managing large budgets, and leading multidisciplinary teams as Motion Ventures continues to scale nationally and internationally,” a pitch deck from the company read, PFT reports.
Keim had been with the Arizona Cardinals since 1999, starting as a regional scout. He was apart of the organization for nearly 25 years which included 10 years as the organization’s general manager from 2013-22.
His tenure with Arizona included multiple controversies including a suspension to do alleged discriminatory practices and providing former coach Steve Wilks with a burner phone to communicate with him during the suspension.
Keim has not yet addressed the matter publicly, and no arrests have been made or charges filed in connection with the alleged scam or Coulibaly’s death.
