Alex Smith won the Comeback Player of the Year award last season, and was so deserving in doing so, had fans calling for the award to be named after him.
Smith, who was seemingly done with football after suffering a compound fracture and in his leg against the Texans in 2018, with a ramped infection taking over his leg and nearly causing him to lose not only his limb, but his life.
Despite such, Smith was able to rehab back into playing form and start for the Washington Football Team for a stretch of last season.
Though the comeback was regarded as THE story of the regular season, reported surfaced that Smith’s return threw a wrench into the plans of the Washington Football Team. It now appears as if that was true, with Ian Rapoport reporting that the WFT will likely cut Smith in the coming days.
Smith, 36, has made it known he still wants to play football.
