The Chicago Bears get some bad news on Coby Bryant.
Head coach Ben Johnson announced Tuesday that Bryant will be out four to six month after undergoing knee surgery.
Bryant had surgery Aug. 7, four days after he hyperextended his left knee and sustained a bone bruise and small fracture. The safety was injured during one-on-ones and was driven back to the building on a cart.
“He’s gonna be in a hurry to get back to help us out there at the end of the year,” Johnson said.
According to Johnson, the Bears sought multiple opinions on Bryant’s injury, which led the safety to need surgery.
Bryant was Chicago’s marquee free agent signing, agreeing to a three-year, $0 million contract with the Bears this past season. Bryant and rookie first-round pick Dillon Thieneman were brought in to replace safeties Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker.
