REPORT: Cleveland Browns Tried To Trade For Alex Smith, But Couldn’t Get Deal Done

Another day, another quarterback free agency/draft disappointment at the quarterback position for the resume of the Cleveland Browns.

According to Cleveland.com, the team tried to trade for Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith Tuesday, only for the Washington Redskins to swoop in and grab him first.

In return for Smith, the Chiefs will recoop a 2018 third-round pick and a player to be named Wednesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The Browns have plenty of high picks in the upcoming draft, plenty to lure a team into a trade.

The Browns will now either go after another quarterback in free agency, likely now exiled Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins, or pick yet another in the upcoming 2018 draft, ruining yet another innocent young man’s life.
