Every NFL team and fan base fears one of their most integral players going down in relatively meaningless preseason games. That is the realization of the Eagles and fans back in Philadelphia Thursday night, and it happened in the weirdest way possible.
The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off Week 2 of the 2016 preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Caleb Sturgis’ night came to an early and painful end before it even started.
Sturgis, who had his helmett off at the time, was reportedly nailed in the head by an arid punt from his own punter during warm-ups.
