FSU QB Deondre Francois Kicked Off Team After Video Of Him Repeatedly Hitting Girlfriend Surfaces

Jameis Winston dealt with rape allegations and numerous other off-the-field issues during his time at Florida State University and it seems like the legal trouble has rolled over to his replacement.

FSU coach Willie Taggart has announced that the QB Deondre Francois will no longer be a member of the Seminoles football program.

“As we build a new culture and foundation for FSU football, we have high expectations for all of our student-athletes and we will not shy away from those high standards of conduct,” Taggart said in a statement. “We are moving forward as a program.”

His release came after Taggart was made aware of a disturbing video that’s audio depicts Francois striking his girlfriend numerous times.

She posted the video to his Instagram account that also notes the abuse has been regular.

NFL scouts have made it known Francois has some of the most red flags of any QB they’ve looked at, and with his track record, you can start to understand why.

Francois was involved in a domestic dispute with his pregnant girlfriend in January 2018, but no arrests were made, nor charges filed in the incident. Tallahassee Police said Francois and the woman gave varying accounts of the incident to officers, who said they could not establish probable cause for charges. The state attorney also declined to file charges. (ESPN)

In April 2018, Francois was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana after police raided his apartment.

Francois, now a redshirt senior, has started the last two seasons the Seminoles, throwing for only 2,731 yards with 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2018.

James Blackman is now the favorite to win the ‘Noles QB job.
