Colin Kaepernick Demanded Ridiculously High Salary To Play In The XFL

The XFL kicked off this past weekend to high praise.

The league looking to be an alternative to NFL football is giving many players a shot to show what they got and perhaps even join or rejoin the crème de la crème of the National Football League.

One would think Colin Kaepernick, former NFL QB who has been trying to work his way back into the league since he’s been unsigned for years after his infamous protests during National Anthem, would relish an opportunity of such but apparently it would come at a cost.

According to TMZ, the former 49ers signal caller demanded an “exorbitant” salary when the league inquired about his willingness to play in the XFL.

“We spoke with his representative,” league commissioner Oliver Luck said when speaking about Kaepernick. “The salary requirements that were broached in that conversation were exorbitant and certainly out of our range.”

Luck claims the conversations with Kap’s camp all went down about a year ago … but he says talks with the QB after initial interest on the XFL’s side never got far at all.

“We’re a start-up league, so we want to make sure that we can be fiscally responsible and fiscally prudent.”

Of course signing Kaepernick to a team would both generate revenue in eyeballs watching the games among other things which certainly come at a price, a price the XFL who is set to lose millions over the course of it’s first few seasons isn’t willing to pay.

Kaepernick has piled up over $40 million over his six seasons playing in the NFL. The average salary for XFL players is roughly $55,000.

Kaepernick still holds firm that he wants to play football.
