Daniel Jones is set to miss his third straight game due to a neck injury on Sunday when the Giants take on the New York Jets as Jones has yet to be cleared for contact.
Addressing reporters on Thursday, Daboll seemed to be less optimistic about Jones’ health after saying a couple of weeks ago that he expected Jones to be back from injury. The Giants head coach was asked if he expects Jones to play again next season and Daboll responded by not saying yes or no:
“I just say he’s getting better, and see where he is next week,” Daboll said.
Asked why he could previously say Jones’ season wasn’t over and now won’t say that, Daboll said he can’t predict the future.
“He’s getting better. We’ll see where he is next week. I don’t have a crystal ball with injuries, but he is getting better and we’ll see where he is next week,” Daboll said.

It remains to be seen when Jones will return to the field, back in 2021, Jones suffered a similar neck injury that required him to miss the final six games of the regular season and ended up having offseason neck surgery. While Jones and the Giants both say this injury isn’t as severe as the previous one, Jones ultimately remains out.
In his absence, Tyrod Taylor will continue to start.
