The retractable roof at the Houston Texans’ NRG Stadium suffered some serious damage due to Hurricane Beryl.
Multiple media outlets provided footage that showed missing panels from the roof, through one of which the field can be seen.
The storm made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane with winds of over 80 mph. It has been connected to at least 10 deaths in Texas and Louisiana, per KHOU 11 News.
Ryan Walsh, CEO of the Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation (HCSCC) that manages and operates NRG Park, said in a statement (via NBC Sports) that the group is “assessing the extent of damages to NRG Park facilities.”
NRG Stadium does have other events set to take place over the coming weeks, including concerts by Zach Bryan and Luke Combs as well as a Leagues Cup group-stage game between the Liga MX’s Tigres and MLS’s Inter Miami CF on August 3.
