Patriots Admit Accidentally Illegally Videotaping Bengals Sideline During Game

A awfully familiar-sounding news story regarding the New England Patriots was the made waves Monday afternoon when ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that the team had been reported to the league by the Cincinnati Bengals for illegally videotaping the team’s sideline during a game.

The incident occurred during the Bengals-Browns’ Week 14 game, to which the Pats sent a three-person independently contracted crew to in order to create and capture content for New England’s ‘Do Your Job’ online video series.

The video was intended on showcasing advanced scout work on the road by filming staffers in the press box, but a videographer who said he was an employee of Robert Kraft was noticed by a Bengals employee filming Cincinnati’s sideline for what was described as the “entire first quarter.”

The team was credentialed by the Browns to film inside the press box, not the field.

After the tapes were confiscated by the league, the Patriots released a statement apologizing for the actions of the production crew and have accepted all responsibility for the matter.
