A scary scene unfolded before the Armed Forces Bowl between Rice and Texas State at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Forth Worth Texas on Friday.
According to reports, one parachutist landed outside the stadium, while others landing behind the end zone and onto the portion of the field that separates the stands from the field. Thankfully, no injuries resulted from the incidents among those who were standing on the ground behind the end zone.
“The parachutist immediately got up and off the field on his own power and no one on the ground was injured,” a spokesperson for the Armed Forces Bowl said in the statement.
The jump was meant to be a special moment right before kickoff. Several parachutists from the All Veteran Group carrying large flags jumped from a small plane.
The All Veteran Group parachuting team is made up of military veterans who often perform at major events, including college games and NFL matches. The team has jumped at previous Armed Forces Bowls, showing support for the “Bowl for the Brave” theme each year.
Texas State defeated Rice, 41-7.
